An excitingopportunity is available in the School of Media Arts and Technology to teach on BA(Hons) Special Effects.

The successful applicant will be working very closely with the course leader and other academic staffs on a highly creative and technical course to deliver and support the animatronics pathway content such as animatronics rigging, control and signal writing, CAD & CNC fabrication, electronics/ electrical engineering, programming, SFX props & model-making, life casting, SFX mould-making and soft & hard plastic/ skin fabrication as well as SFX make-up effects.

The candidate must have a good UK undergraduate degree in a related discipline and professional/ industry experience in special effects/ animatronics practice and/or good research profile. The candidate must be able to teach undergraduate and postgraduate level and demonstrate the ability to provide academic guidance and counselling to students; preparation and presentation of exam board results and liaison with external examiners as well as academic management and curriculum design.

We are seeking to appoint an innovative individual with excellent people skills and experience of leading/working well in a team. You will need to work quickly to deadlines, with good time management skills and the ability to represent the school, both locally and nationally.

Some unsocial hours and UK travel may be required.
