Widening Participation & Social Mobility

The Southern Universities Network (SUN) comprises of a number of higher education providers, further education colleges, schools, and other organisations in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It is part of the Uni Connect programme; funded by the Office for Students, Uni Connect aims to reduce the gap in higher education participation between the most and least represented groups. 

The post-holder will support the delivery of the SUN outreach programme to young people aged 14-19, both on and off campus to targeted students, teachers, parents/carers and advisers, in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Uni Connect programme. Working under the direction of the SUN Project Leader; this post will see the successful candidate mixing home-working and being based at Solent University, as well as travelling to meetings and activities across the SUN region.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people and knowledge of the education sector. They will possess excellent communication, organisation and inter-personal skills with experience of creating content, either through resources or online. They will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to deadlines. They will be a team player who will relish the challenge of working in a collaborative setting. They will be approachable and demonstrate a commitment to the values of the widening participation agenda.

The Uni Connect programme is scheduled to run until July 2025. This post will be full-time on a fixed term basis until 31 July 2022 with the possibility of extension.

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.

A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service clearance at Enhanced level may also be required.
