Maritime Simulation Technician
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Southampton Solent University for a skilled and motivated Technician (Simulation) to join the Maritime Simulation team within Warsash Maritime School. This role is ideal for an individual with strong technical expertise and a passion for supporting innovative maritime simulation, teaching, research, and commercial activities.
Role Overview
- Provide technical support for maritime simulation systems supporting teaching, research, and commercial activities.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and update simulator hardware, software, and networks to maximise reliability and minimise downtime.
- Prepare and support simulation facilities for teaching sessions, pilot training, port studies, and research activities.
- Work closely with academic staff to support simulation exercises, specialist equipment, and student learning.
- Support industry engagement through simulator demonstrations and technical support for external clients and partners.
Requirements
- Good working knowledge of IT systems, networks, and technical equipment.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting specialist systems and software.
- Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent industrial experience is desirable.
