This is an excellent opportunity to join Solent University’s successful Student Achievement Team. As a Student Achievement Adviser, you will play a key part in initiatives to improve retention and achievement, identifying groups of students at risk and developing and implementing intervention programmes. You will meet with students to assess their academic and pastoral circumstances and identify appropriate support to enable them to succeed. Reporting to the Student Achievement Team Leader, you will work closely with the team and liaise with Schools and other services.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as a strong team player.

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Be educated to A level or equivalent, with GCSE grades A-C in English and Mathematics. A HNC/D or degree is desirable
  • Be able to evidence continuing professional development
  • Have experience of delivering support to students in a higher or further education environment
  • Have experience of providing excellent service delivery in a customer facing environment including the provision of information, advice, and guidance
  • Have a thorough understanding of the student life cycle and academic regulations
  • Have a good understanding of issues relating to student retention and achievement in higher/further education
  • Have a strong understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity
  • A thorough understanding of General Data Protection Regulations
  • Have a good knowledge of general IT systems including Microsoft programmes
  • Have good data analysis (particularly excel) and report writing skills (on – job training will be provided to support further skills development in these areas)
  • Excellent administrative skills with a good attention to detail
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organisational skills
  • Have an eye for detail when producing accurate data, documentation, and written correspondence
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, working to tight deadlines
